Day 8…
The water in Venice is clearing up.
According to reports, you can look down into the canals and see fish. And dolphins.
The earth is getting a breather. Everywhere.
With tourism halted, everything is going to get a chance to grow back. Less travel means far less pollution is going to be pumped into the atmosphere on a daily basis. Over-visited places have emptied out. Planes are operating at a level 10% or less than normal.
Cruise ships have almost stopped sailing.
People are staying home. Less driving.
Less buying = Less trash.
Governor Cuomo just suspended mortgage payments for 90 days for those out of work. That’s a relief.
That’s the kind of decision that actually helps people.
Next step, rents.
Governor Cuomo’s address this morning is basically everything that you need to know. It is also a model of how to deliver difficult news. He is clear, unflinching. He talks with warmth, strength and humor.
