A year ago, almost exactly, I had a potentially cancerous polyp removed. Because it had "glued" itself flat, it couldn't be removed with ordinary colonoscopic means, and so it required real surgery. They took 2 feet of my large intestine, along with associated blood vessels and lymph nodes, because if a full examination of the polyp (they'd only performed small biopsies) showed it to be cancerous, they'd just have to go back in and yank all that stuff out anyway. It was NOT cancerous, happily, but now my colon is a semi-colon ...

The scars are all relatively small (they used robotic devices, so the largest incision is only about 3") but definitely visible. I stayed off the higher power pain meds as well -- in my case, it just wasn't that sore and besides, those things always make me constipated which was a symptom I did not want to have while my body was relearning #2.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Now that it is legal in Illinois, I think I'll stock pile some edibles if I'm ever scheduled for surgery again.

I have never been a fan of smoking weed. I will occasionally do an edible as a lark, but it is by no means a regular thing with me. I don't take pain meds really ever. The oxycodone made me break out in hives (thank goodness). We had a bunch of gummies so I started taking a low dose (5mg) every 6 hours or so and it really did the trick. Michael could tell I was stoned but I actually couldn't. We will be keeping some on hand from here on in!

You, stoned. With your prodigiously squishy prefrontal lobe tripping the light fantastic? I'd actually pay to see that ;-)

I smoked a little, when I was much younger and it was illegal. (And I had the record sealed when I turned 18 so that I can legally claim I've never been arrested.) Since its been legalized, I've not indulged in any of the edibles (I'll not smoke it again -- I despise the sensation of smoke in my lungs.)

Having recent experience with the healing process, I’ve learned more patience and listen to my body rather than the timelines my health professionals noted. Sounds like you’re doing the same ❣️

May I just say how much I hate this for you? You've been through enough. I know life couldn't give less of a rat's ass about "fair," but this just isn't. I'm so so sorry. Are you going to be well enough to travel?

I got the hernia because a previous surgery by one of the best doctors on the planet had weakened the muscular wall. It was inevitable. What I am going through is nothing. I have access to some of the best medical care on earth and the insurance to pay for it. I have a comfortable place to recover with constant help and attention from my husband, my cat, my friends and my neighbors. I don't hate this by a long shot. I am incredibly grateful for all of it. According to the doctor I should be fine to travel - I'm counting on it!!!!!
