Bombay Beach is in the middle of the desert on the shore of the Salton Sea. It was once a vacation spot for the well-to-do. These days, the water is largely runoff from farmers’ irrigation systems originating in the Colorado River. It is one of the most toxic bodies of water in the United States. Nothing lives in it. All the fish are dead.
