I’ve just looked at where you’re at on google maps. It seems very remote and a long way out there. No wonder you’re seeing such incredible things. Is the only way by car ferry into St Barbe? Is it very populated?

Newfoundland is a 6 1/2 hr ferry ride from the eastern end of Nova Scotia. Up north there is a shorter one over to Labradour. From the eastern point of Newfoundland there is a 16hr ferry back to Nova Scotia. It is remote and HUGE! To drive from one side to the other is about 9hrs. We've just gotten back to the east coast for the ferry back tomorrow. Most of the island is trees and moose. There are caribou but we haven't seen any. Lots of little villages with residents in the low hundreds if that. St. John's is like Adelaide-sized. xoxox

Oh Richard, I really do love your stories. Thank you. I have friends in Sydney Mines, which is way out there near where you were I think. And when the temperature drops below 98° I’ll sit down at the computer and look at a map.

Safe travels home.

Sydney Mines is close to where the ferry to/from Newfoundland is on Cape Breton in Nova Scotia. We will be near there on the way back!
